Space Savers for Packing and Home
While travel may not be at the top of everyone’s list right now with the Coronavirus spreading, some travel is necessary and/or needed. Whether you’re travelling or not, these space savers work when you’re packing your suitcase or trying to make do with limited space at home.
One tip that is more well-known to people is to roll clothes instead of folding them.
Here are four others that may be less familiar to you.
Use tissue paper to minimize the amount of wrinkling in clothes. Wrap each piece individually in a sheet. It is a time saver too, or if like me you hate ironing, it’s everything!
Travel Space Bags
Get some small travel compartment bags to save space and keep your clothes organized and wrinkle-free. For a cheaper alternative, regular zip-lock bags in various sizes can be used for a similar effect. For a sustainable version, Amazon sells reusable silicone ones.
Solve the Shoe Dilemma
Shoes are always a space issue! I’m still trying to figure out where to put some of mine at home. I have it figured out packing shoes for travel. I wear my biggest pair and can get by with one other pair (even for 11 days!). For packing, place your shoes in empty spots in your luggage. Never put them together. It takes up too much room. If you must, and this tip also works in your closet, place them heel to toe.
The Small Stuff
Shoes aren’t just good for wearing! When you’re packing, or have minimal space at home, here are some things you can do.
Put your socks or nylons into a pair of shoes
Place jewelry in small bags and put them in your shoes. If you’re using this tip at home, mark the jewelry. It ensures pieces are easy to find when you need them!
