Coconut Oil Moisturizer Benefits and Tutorial
A pattern will emerge – well it already has – and that pattern is coconut oil! For the last few years, it has been my go-to for skin, nails and hair. I will take a break from it for a month each year, but it is all I use. Organic, pure coconut oil is best. Right now I’m using Nutiva brand. It costs approximately $11.00 Canadian for a litre and a half. I have used other brands for half the price, but I haven’t found them available in quite some time. It lasts me at least four months, and I slather it on everywhere twice a day. Or you can get three tubs for $31.00 Canadian on Amazon right now. That would be a year supply or longer. But, if you also use it for cooking it may be worth it!
I rarely use store-bought or salon products and have been using homemade products for years now. I won’t go back. It’s extra helpful right now to have a basic routine where I can use items from my kitchen.
A Few Benefits for Your Face
As a face and under-eye moisturizer. Rub a small amount on your face including under your eyes (about the size of a quarter). I use a little more (about 1/2 of that) on my neck. If you’re nervous about using it under your eyes, leave that part out and use your regular eye cream.
At night, massage coconut oil on your skin. It works to hydrate without clogging your pores. When you wake up, your skin will be softer and smoother.
Turmeric and coconut oil to fight acne and lighten scars. Mix one tablespoon of turmeric powder with enough coconut oil to make a paste. Apply it to the affected areas daily.
