Five ways coconut oil can lend a hand to your skin during winter

Coconut oil can help keep your skin soft this winter.

Ways coconut oil can lend a hand to your skin this winter

Here are some ways I use coconut oil for my skin. Maybe one, two or all, can work for you too.

As a face and under-eye moisturizer. Rub a small amount on your face including under your eyes (about the size of a quarter). I use a little more (about 1/2 of that) on my neck. If you’re nervous about using it under your eyes, leave that part out and use your regular eye cream. I do a quick demo of how I use coconut oil as a moisturizer in a YouTube video.

At night, massage coconut oil on your skin. It works to hydrate without clogging your pores. When you wake up, your skin will be softer and smoother.

Coconut oil bath. Add a few tablespoons of organic coconut oil to a warm bath to soften skin.

Coconut oil and turmeric

Turmeric and coconut oil to fight acne and lighten scars. Mix one tablespoon of turmeric powder with enough coconut oil to make a paste. Apply it to the affected areas daily.

Coconut oil cleanser. Mix three tablespoons liquid Castille soap, three tablespoons raw honey and two tablespoons of coconut oil.

Our skin is all different, what works for me and others, might not work for you, but coconut oil is easy and inexpensive, so it doesn’t hurt to see if it can help. It will take some time to notice a difference, but if you create a routine and stick with it, you should see some.

Note: Try it on a small patch of skin first to see if you have an allergic reaction.
